Music From The Quiet - Fall

Fall is a great time to work on a recording. Making an album of music takes concentration, introspection, reflection and clarity. This fall I am relishing in the process, aided by the gently slumbering trees and cool, crisp air. After the concert in October, Bryan, Mauricio, Zach, Matt, Ryan and I went into Peter Karl’s studio and recorded much of this music. I’m spending the next month or so editing and mixing. I’m not sure how I’m going to release it. Honestly, this music isn’t that marketable. And the music industry clearly needs a new model to survive. It’s too early to determine if existing models (iTunes, Radiohead pay-what-you-want) are resilient enough to stick around in this environment of changing technologies. Does anyone buy CD’s anymore? Is there room in the world (and in my business model) for art without concern for commerce?
